""The most important thing is that (Israel) will launch an offensive aimed at the destruction & annihilation of Lebanon... They won't make a ceasefire unless you make them beg for it... Unless you evacuate them from their homes in Tyre, Sidon, Beirut" Ronen Marelly, Mayor of Nahariya, was furious yesterday on Channel 12, demanding not to agree to a ceasefire and instead annihilate Lebanon. In case the ceasefire goes through, there's a big question regarding the Israeli residents in settlements near the Lebanese border. Several heads of municipalities from the Upper Galilee and Western Galilee announced time and time again that they will not let their residents come back unless there is a "security strip" in Lebanon, ethnically and physically cleansed. Nahariya, specifically, is actually not evacuated, and I don't really get Marelly's logic (which he voiced several times recently) - if the current situation continues for a few more months, his city will be naturally emptied out. Israelis really seem to be pursuing self-destruction." - Source
