"Vous vous souvenez de cette vidéo? La justice a retrouvé l’identité du terroriste franco israélien qui se réjouit d’avoir torturé des palestiniens. Y.O est l’oncle du lyonnais qui se ventait d’avoir commis lui même ces actes de barbarie sur ses réseaux. "

Archivist Notes On This Video

The video, reportedly dating back to January but circulated on social media in March, allegedly shows a "suspected French-Israeli soldier" filming Palestinian prisoners in degrading conditions and referring to acts of torture. The events are said to have taken place in Gaza.

In the video, published notably on March 19 on the platform X (formerly Twitter), a voice speaking French can be heard saying, “Did you see these bastards, my nephew? (...) He wet himself. Let me show you his back, you’re going to laugh, they tortured him to make him talk.”

The voice continues, “You were happy on October 7, you sons of bitches,” referencing the unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in southern Israel, which led to the deaths of over 1,200 people.

A complaint was signed by the Belgian association Le Mouvement du 30 mars, the French organization Justice et Droits Sans Frontières (JDSF), and the Association of Palestinians of France - AL JALIYA - Union of Palestinian Associations in France. According to the Hind Rajab Fundation, a team of lawyers led by Gilles Devers has filed a complaint with the national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office for torture and war crimes in connection with the military attack on Gaza. This complaint "against X" is intended to determine the role played by Yoel Ohnona, the Franco-Israeli soldier whose testimony has been requested.

But, in September 2024, the French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) has dismissed a complaint filed against an unnamed individual, targeting a French-Israeli accused of torture and complicity in torture against Palestinians, acts potentially qualifying as war crimes. The complaint was based on a video circulated in March 2024 showing Palestinian prisoners in degrading conditions, with comments in French suggesting acts of torture. These events allegedly occurred in Gaza during the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The complainants, have expressed shock, arguing that the complaint contained sufficient evidence to warrant an investigation. They accused the Pnat of lacking the political will to shed light on the involvement of dual nationals in war crimes. The associations’ lawyers plan to request access to the case file to understand the rationale behind this decision.
