Archivist Notes: ‘The New Paper’ Operation

At dawn today, marking the October 7 anniversary, the Israeli occupation forces, along with reporters and cameramen, launched an operation called The New Paper, during which hundreds of Israeli prison units raided cells and abused Palestinian prisoners.

This involving hundreds of prison combatants and members of the Masada unit. They raided hundreds of cells in security prisons across Israel.

This operation was reportedly initiated due to warnings and fears of potential disturbances in connection with the events of October 7. "We detected that weapons were being collected" Said Kobi Yacovi, Prison Service Commissioner.

Israeli media outlet Channel 13 participated in the collective punishment and retaliation against Palestinian detainees, covering and broadcasting it to the Israeli audience.

Channel 13's pro-government anchor, Yossi Eli, has previously filmed propaganda videos for Ben Gvir's detention or concentration camps. This time, he joined what appears to be an orchestrated, brutal raid on Palestinian captives' cells.

They claim that 'a plan was revealed' to launch a riot inside the Israeli concentration camps on October 7. Some observers highlight that the presence of media crews (!) shows a sadistic brutality carried out for propaganda purposes.

According to international law, any 'journalist' taking part in this charade is committing a war crime.

It is one of three prison facilities along with Megiddo and Ktzi'ot, the latter two located in Israel and not in the West Bank. Ofer Prison is run by the Israel Prison Service and like the other two facilities, used to be operated by the Israel Defense Forces' Military Police Corps.
