"On 21 April 2025, Israeli settlers set up a new outpost on a hill belonging to the Palestinian town of Sinjil, in Ramallah District. When residents came to protest, settlers attacked them with stones and live fire, chased them into the town, torched tents a family lived in, stole sheep, and vandalized farming sheds, equipment and cars. Soldiers arrived—but instead of stopping the settlers, they turned on the residents, firing tear gas and stun grenades. One resident, Wael Ghafri, ran into his family’s burning shed and after inhaling the smoke, had a heart attack and died later in hospital. The violence continued. On 23 April, settlers attacked Sinjil residents again, burning property and destroying solar panels. Instead of apprehending the settlers, soldiers fired tear gas at fleeing residents—and some were injured from gas inhalation.
