Archivist Notes: Abduction of photojournalist Wahhaj Bani Mufleh

On March 31, in Beita (بيتا), Nablus Governorate, the army took photographer and journalist Wahaj Bani Moufleh from the Jabal Sabih area, while he was filming, as part of his work, settlers uprooting and cutting down trees on the town's lands.

Wahaj Bani Moufleh is a photojournalist from Beita, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. WORM Gallery in Rotterdam organized an exhibition of his photography during summer 2024. His work shows life and death under the violent occupation and testifies to the resilience of Palestinian communities. Looking at Wahaj's photos means being immersed in the daily suffering and struggle.

On March 31, at 10:37 PM, he published a picture showing his hand freed of the a cuff to restrain them, with the message "We will not surrender, coverage continues".

Mistaclim X account statement

"From the time he was taken until now, there is no information about Wahaj or where he was taken to. An attempt to find out about his whereabouts was met with the army's response that the case is unknown. Disappearance of people is another Israeli-made method to hide the truth, the injustices of the occupation and the settlers' crimes."
