"Co-host of MSNBC’s The Weekend: Primetime Catherine Rampell (@crampell) asked Pulitzer Prize-winning Palestinian author @MosabAbuToha if he “would like to clarify” a Facebook post he wrote months ago about Israeli soldier Emily Damari, who was captured by Palestinian resistance fighters during the October 7 attacks. Damari, recently freed, had expressed outrage at Abu Toha’s Pulitzer win in a letter to the Pulitzer board. She wrote: “He posted about me on Facebook and asked, ‘How on earth is this girl called a hostage?’” Abu Toha, a poet and survivor of Israeli detention, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for his dispatches from Gaza in The New Yorker, chronicling life under bombardment and siege. His recognition marked a rare acknowledgment of Palestinian narratives in U.S. media." - Source
