On January 11, hundreds of armed settlers, escorted by Israeli soldiers, stormed several neighborhoods in the Old City, chanting racist and anti-Arab slogans, and engaged in verbal abuse and threats. Since the morning, Israeli forces had imposed strict military measures on the residents of the area, closing off all entrances to the Old City, restricting the movement of local residents, and enforcing a curfew to secure the colonists' incursion into this area.
