Archivist Notes: Fahd Al-Sobah school (journalists killed)

On November 9, moments before 1 am, an Israeli airstrike targeted the Fahd Al-Ahmad Al-Sobah school, located west of Al-Mahatta mosque in Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City. The school, like all others in Gaza, was used as a shelter for displaced persons.

At least 6 people were killed:a couple and their son, along with two journalist siblings and their father.

Journalist Mohammed Ahmed documented the destruction at the school and specified that "four classrooms were destroyed as the bomb penetrated three floors reaching the ground floor". This was corroborated by footage taken by journalist Ibrahim Al-Khalili. Journalist Karam Hassan took a photograph in the aftermath that captured the nose cone of a Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) / GBU-39.

  1. Mohammed Nabil Atta Al-Sawafiri (father)
  2. Samah Khalil Al-Suweirki Al-Sawafiri (wife, pregnant)
