Archivist Notes On This Video

In this segment Islam is asked if he remembers any moments of strength during his coverage. He replies that "We're in weakness almost always. We are not superheroes, we are not in marvel. We are weak like every human, and Allah created us weak." "I seek strength in supplication and prayer to Allah." Islam then explains his personal coping mechanism which are to shut off intrusive and unproductive thoughts. For example, as a journalist he gets asked about the negotiations over a (ceasefire) deal and so on, but in reality "what does it matter in the here and now? Similarly he tends to divert from unproductive conversations and find ways to give himself a respite (e.g. watching a football match when internet is available). Otherwise, if he keeps thinking about being targeted and being on Israel's kill-list or such, he would have long broken down and succumbed to nihilistic dark thoughts.
