Context :

On January 6, 2025, three Israeli settlers were killed while driving through Al Funduq, just days after Israel announced plans to pave a bypass road east of the village. Two years ago, we reported on a "temporary" land seizure order for security reasons, taking 219 dunams of agricultural land from Al Funduq, Haje, and Jinsafut. Al Funduq remains the only Palestinian village intersected by Route 55, unlike other sections of the road, which have been repaved as bypass roads for settlements.

Israeli Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, recently stated that Israel’s response to terrorism is "building the country," while settlers continue to threaten Palestinian businesses. More than a week after the murder, Al Funduq remains paralyzed, with soldiers guarding entrances and shops closed. Kedumim’s local council head, Ozel Vatik, has pressured authorities to prevent shop reopenings and to demolish illegal businesses in the village. This situation mirrors the Huwara model, where settlers and the army imposed economic collapse as revenge, deepening the cycle of violence and repression.
