"“I was just done treating the injured man. I thought they were joking. They executed him afront of my eyes. I cried” This brave doctor hesitated greatly but ultimately agreed to share her story with me, on the condition that her identity remains unknown in fear of her life 1/2" - Source
This event took place on December 24, 2023 in Fatima Bint Al-Asad school in Jabalia, north Gaza.
The testimony comes from a Palestinian medic currently in North Gaza who describes a lot of war crimes, in particular how D9’s ran over civilians & how they executed an injured man afront of her eyes in the school.
Description of the testimony
A group of nearby schools was besieged in Jabalia at the end of December, where displaced people resided following the destruction of their homes. The witness, a doctor, lives there with her sisters, her mother, and her disabled brother. She had asked to stay near her disabled brother. People were massed without being able to leave. If they went out or approached the windows, they were targeted by drones. An entire class above her was wiped out in this way. She says that she became known as a doctor following a call from a sick person and therefore became the caregiver for those detained. At one point, while she was sewing up a wound, a D9 entered the school entrance.
Three men and children from the same family (cousins) stood at the entrance to the school: Mahmoud, Ismael, and Loay Ridwan. First, a quadcoptor bombed them, and right after that, the D9 rolled over them. Their bodies were completely crushed, completely flattened.
Then, Israeli officers called over a loudspeaker for a school representative to come forward to say how many people were in the school to distribute the aid. When a representative came out, they made him strip down to his underwear, in the cold of winter, and walk out of the schoolyard. That’s when groups of women came out one by one, including her mother and sisters, and she stayed behind to treat two men and take care of her brother. Several people fled safely. Her patient was doing better and was even able to walk and go out again when suddenly the Israeli army raided the school and forced them to lie on the ground. They surrounded the women and started shooting randomly, killing or injuring.
Then, four soldiers came towards her: three white and one brown, one who spoke Arabic. There was also a spy who helped them select people. They came up to her, harassing her, uncovering her hair, laughing at her, and asking why she was treating these people since they were going to kill them, which would relieve her of her work.
Then, when she wanted to leave with her brother Ahmed in a wheelchair, they asked her to raise her hands and “surrender.” She told them that she would not raise her hands to her enemies. They told her they were going to kill her and her brother. She replied that they could do it if it made them feel better.
Then they addressed the patient who had barely been treated: "Should I make your job easier?" they asked, pointing their guns at her brother and the injured man. She thought he was joking, but they shot the wounded man before her eyes. She screamed and suffocated with terror under their laughter. Her brother, Ahmed, started crying in fear too, so they pointed their guns at him and asked if they should “make it easier for you with him too.” She then decides to lie and say that she only has her brother left and that her family was killed. They ask him by whom. She answers “by al-Sinwar.” They then said to him, "Bravo, bravo, you are our beloved," and patted him on the back. She pulled away because she didn’t want to be touched by them.
She walked on a narrow path between the vehicles, under the quadcopters and under the threat of loudspeakers ordering her to return. She shouted that her brother was sick, and when she deviated a little from her path, one of the five soldiers in a jeep pointed his weapon at her, ready to shoot, and she believed their time had come. One of the men eventually touched the shoulder of the soldier with the gun and said, “Leave her.”
