"🎥 UN Rapporteur: Genocide in Gaza Has Become a Global Economy At the UN Human Rights Council Today, UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese unveiled the “economy of genocide”—naming 48 corporations she says are enabling Israel’s destruction of Palestinian life. “Palestine is a crime scene,” Albanese told reporters. “And the fingerprints of all of us are on it.” Her report exposes arms companies, tech giants, banks, supermarkets, tourism firms, and universities of profiting from war crimes, displacement, and apartheid. These actors, she said, have supplied the infrastructure to bomb, starve, surveil, and replace Palestinians with settlers. ➤ Genocide and Corporate Profit Over 200,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured, she notes. Meanwhile, the Tel Aviv stock exchange has surged 213% since October 2023—generating $225.7 billion in market gains. “One people enriched, one people erased,” she said. ➤ Gaza, Albanese said, has become a laboratory for weapons testing and economic extraction. Palestinians are being exterminated or forcibly removed as Israel tests AI drones, remote targeting systems, and F-35 jets. “Arms companies have turned near-record profits by equipping Israel with cutting-edge weaponry to unleash 85,000 tons of explosives, six times the power of Hiroshima, on Gaza,” she said. ➤ International Law Has Been Triggered: The report ties corporate complicity to violations of the Rome Statute, the Geneva Conventions, and UN business principles. Albanese said these are not isolated abuses but “structural and sustained violations” now confirmed by ICJ genocide proceedings and ICC arrest warrants. ➤ Call to Action: End Business With Genocide She called on governments and corporations to: • Impose a full arms embargo on Israel • Suspend all trade and investment agreements • End all business activities enabling war crimes • Support boycotts, divestment, and sanctions to enforce accountability ➤ Albanese described Israel’s assault as “one of the cruelest genocides in modern history.” and said these 48 companies are just a visible part of a global economic structure that finances, equips, and normalizes Israel’s settler-colonial and genocidal project. She reiterated that the goal is not just about accountability for each company, but about dismantling the framework that enables the erasure of Palestinian life. ➤ Drop Site has shared more details on many of the 48 companies named in the report, including weapons manufacturers, global banks, energy giants, and firms tied to surveillance, logistics, and settlement construction.
