"Israel is engaged in a war on God's houses, although it doesn't say it openly." Over 11 months, the occupation targeted all mosques across the Gaza strip with direct strikes or by demolishing them. The report shows footage obtained from IDF soldiers and drones of mosques being obliterated.

1. Khan Younis: blowing-up the Great Mosque of Khan Younis, built in 1928, older than Israel by 2 decades.
2. North Gaza: Soldiers desecrate Masjid Bani Saleh pointing their rifles and ransacking it. Soldiers are clearly seen leisurely ripping apart copies of the Quran and setting them all on fire.
3. Gaza City, Old City: destruction of the centuries-old Masjid Al-Omari, one of the oldest mosques in the world, as a result of Israeli bombing.

According to the Gaza Communications Office:

• 609 mosques have been completely destroyed, and another 211 partially.
• 3 churches have also been destroyed, notably the Church of St. Porphyrius, the third oldest church in the world.

Israel does not respect the sanctity of anything in Gaza, with no regard to religion or law. It brought the roofs of mosques down on the people praying inside multiple times, and Gazans will not soon forget the massacre scenes that unfolded such as:

• Gaza City, Sabra neighborhood, Masjid Ihyaa' al-Sunna, November 15, 2023: 50 killed during evening prayers.
• Gaza City, Shati RC, Al-Masjid Al-Abyad (the white mosque). July 13, 2024: 22 killed brutally torn to shreds during the midday prayer. Others have been flattened with bulldozers or blown-up with explosives and record by soldiers as souvenirs of their crimes in Gaza.

The people of Gaza, however, remain attached to their mosques even as they became ruins. While destroying mosques, Israel isn't targeting mere buildings, it is killing the souls of Gazans attached to their mosques.
