"⚠️ Northern Gaza: Internet and Telecommunication Networks Down, Hospitals ‘Drowning in Blood’ Reports indicate that internet and telecommunication networks are completely down in Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia, with residents in Jabalia also facing communication difficulties. Israel appears to be plunging northern Gaza into a complete blackout while blocking humanitarian aid and enforcing collective starvation for nearly 400,000 Palestinians in the north as part of its brutal new offensive launched this month. The Director of Nursing at Kamal Adwan Hospital tells Drop Site that the “cutting off of telecommunications and internet services, along with the prevention of food and medicine and the intense random shelling across all areas of the Jabalia refugee camp, is signaling a major catastrophe.” This situation is “indicative of the ongoing ethnic cleansing, extermination, collective starvation, and forced displacement.” 📃Drop Site also received the following video message from a nurse at Kamal Adwan Hospital: 👇 “Peace be upon you. An urgent appeal from Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza. We're calling out to the world, to all people of conscience, to the WHO, UN, and Security Council. To everyone with a shred of humanity: North Gaza is under attack. Dozens are dying, hundreds injured. Our hospital is overwhelmed, drowning in blood. The operating room is full. We're critically short-staffed. We lack resources and fuel. The situation is dire. Injuries flood the streets of Jabalia, Shujaiya, and Fallujah. Hundreds need help. Medical teams can't reach victims in the streets. The occupation forces are committing atrocities. Injuries arrive by ambulance, motorcycle, even carried by hand. People come in wounded. The hospital's situation is critical. We urgently appeal to all compassionate souls, to every free person: Save North Gaza! It's facing genocide. The bloodshed won't stop. Save North Gaza, please! Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.”"

Archivist Notes: Day 378: North Gaza invasion

Day 14 of Israel's third ground invasion of the North Gaza governorate. As of the evening of this day, 450 people were killed over a period of two weeks.

This day was marked by a dangerous, dramatic escalation of violent bombings and expanding incursion into other areas in Jabalia, notably Tal al-Zaatar, where two "firebelt" airstrikes were carried out on residential blocks, leading to mass murder of civilians.

In the evening, Israel imposed a communications blackout in the governorate while it rapidly escalated the frequency and intensity of strikes by drones, air strikes, artillery, and explosive barrels against a terrorized population struggling to survive after two weeks of total siege and engineered starvation and dehydration by Israel.

Key updates from journalists:

  1. Journalist Islam Badr reported an escalation of the Israeli assault in North Gaza. Noting:
  • the IDF's Givati Brigade was called in as reinforcement
  • assaults expanded to Tal al-Zaatar
  • intense artillery shelling on all areas of Jabalia
  1. Journalist Al-Hakeem (@Hakeam_ps on X) shared details on the extent of the Israeli escalation in Jabalia intensified:
  • Encircled by Israeli fire   - West: Firebelts in Al-Faluja and the Six Martyrs intersection   - East: Firebelts in Tal al-Zaatar and al-Sikka areas   - North and South: Tanks surround the camp and shoot at everything that moves
  • Displacement: people crowd into ever-narrowing spaces to escape the bombardment, with pressure increasing in areas like Beit Lahia
  • Little sustenance: Food and water are running out as a result of the 15-day blockade, forcing residents to rely on unclean water
  • Emergency situations: Many families are under the rubble, with ambulance teams unable to reach them as the IDF targets them. To make matters worse, the communications blackout prevents contact with emergency services altogether.
  1. Journalist Hossam Shabat described the growing escalation since the evening as a "rapid extermination mission"
