UNRWA failing its mandate two weeks into the ceasefire

"After more than half a million people have crossed Al-Rashid Street and Salah Al-Din Road, UNRWA must deploy its staff and carry out its duties. It has been granted a UN mandate and does not need to wait for a visa from here or there. What we demand is the activation of UNRWA’s work, not just the issuance of statements, as if it were merely established for descriptions or reports. Rather, it has many responsibilities that it must fulfill, such as caring for people and providing water. The occupation is preventing the entry of heavy equipment needed to retrieve the bodies of our children from under the rubble—this is the very least that can be demanded. بعد عبور أكثر من نصف مليون عبر شارع الرشيد وطريق صلاح الدين، على الأونروا أن تنقل موظفيها وتمارس عملها، فهي ممنوحة تفويضًا أمميًا، وليست بحاجة لانتظار تأشيرة من هنا أو هناك.. ما نطلبه هو تفعيل عمل الأونروا، وليس فقط إصدار التصريحات، وكأن الأونروا وُجدت للتوصيف أو لإصدار التقارير، بل إن عليها أعمالًا كثيرة يجب أن تقوم بها، مثل رعاية الناس وتوفير المياه.. الاحتلال يمنع دخول المعدات الثقيلة التي نريدها لإخراج جثث أبنائنا من تحت الركام، وهذا أقل ما يمكن طلبه." - Source
