One week after this footage surfaced, the hospital's director Dr. Marwan Al-Hamas commented on it:

“We were saddened by the news of the occupation’s bombing and destruction of the Martyr Mohammed Yousef Al-Najjar Hospital, with all its components and all its property, and even the hospital’s walls were destroyed by the occupation.”

Al-Hams added that the hospital was providing services to 300,000 people before the aggression in the Palestinian city of Rafah with a=only 63 beds which decreased to 42 as the hospital carried out repairs and renovations in the pediatric department. After the war broke out, the hospital was forced to expand and put up tents and expand the nephrology department until the hospital accommodated 350 patients and injured people in the beds: “We had a kidney department with 115 patients before the war, and there were 18 dialysis machines and a bed. When the war began and people were displaced from North Gaza, Gaza City, and the central area to Rafah, the number reached 550 and sometimes 600 patients who were using the dialysis machine inside the artificial kidney department in Rafah.”
