Mohammed Al-Salhi, a photojournalist working for the Fourth Authority news agency, was shot dead near the Bureij Palestinian refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency Wafa, and the Journalist Support Committee (JSC), a nonprofit which promotes the rights of the media in the Middle East.

Call for Investigation: The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) called on the Israel Defense Forces to investigate El-Salhi’s death, make the findings public, and ensure the safety of journalists covering the Israel-Gaza conflict.

Audrey Azoulay, ************UNESCO Director-General statement : "I deplore the deaths of journalists Mohammad Jarghoun and Mohammad El-Salhi. The protection of journalists as civilians is a requirement under international law, including UN Security Council Resolution 2222/2015 on the protection of journalists, media professionals and associated personnel in situations of conflict. I call for full and diligent investigations to determine the circumstances of these tragedies."
