"The educational tent is extremely important in the Refaat Alareer camp. With 23 kids over the age of 5 years old who have severe learning and mental disabilities, we are working closely with two teachers to provide them tailored care. Speech therapy and art therapy will be our methods to support the kids as many are stuttering, drooling, not speaking and showing more symptoms of stress. We will also give the teachers training on how to deal with children with disability in learning, and hoping then we can train more teachers and extend these services beyond the camp. The Sameer Project is a Tent Encampment Initiative in Central Gaza

  • A grassroots aid organization led by four Palestinians in the diaspora, focused on providing shelter and specialized support to displaced families.
  • Launch of the first tent encampment project in Central Gaza. Aims to serve the most vulnerable families with specialized support: -- High-risk perinatal and neonatal females. -- Children with physical or mental disabilities. -- Adults with special needs and mobility issues. -- Individuals with war injuries and chronic diseases.
  • Enhance health and safety for gestation and delivery of babies and new mothers.
  • Prevent complications and further injury to wounds.
  • Care for children and adults needing special attention.
  • Alleviate pressure on overstressed hospital systems by taking referrals from medical NGOs.
  • Accommodate urgent cases awaiting medical evacuations by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Services Provided:

  • Physical checkups and oversight by camp nurses and a rotating doctor. Regular food deliveries for nourishment (multiple times per week).
  • Supply of diapers and formula for new mothers.
  • Mental health support through a Virtual Reality therapy tent, designed to help children cope with trauma.
