"“Suddenly, when I heard Nooh’s voice I felt like my life and soul rushed back into my body.” Mahmoud Hassounah, a survivor of the Dar al-Arqam massacre, recalls the moment Palestinian Civil Defense workers refused to abandon him, even after the Israeli occupation forces issued a warning of a second missile strike. He lay crushed under rubble, already having said his last prayers, when Nooh, a civil defense worker, and the rest of the civil defense crew returned and pulled him out minutes before the building was bombed again.
