Around 4 p.m., Israeli strikes targeted the Jabalia Boys Preparatory School located in the Abu Rashid pond area. The school was sheltering displaced people in Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip.

In the morning of October 21, 2024, the IDF raided schools in the Abu Rashid pond area, which numbered 6 schools, and ordered people to evacuate immediately. A few minutes later, IDF artillery shelled the school while people were complying and packing their belongings for the displacement.

The strikes came as a continuation of Israeli policy to force displaced people out of the schools/shelters implemented since October 19. On October 21, the practice escalated in violence as the IDF started violently shelling schools to force the people to leave and was focused on schools in 

The disturbing footage was documented and obtained from a nurse who was at the school and managed to flee to Gaza City. She told journalists people had to leave the wounded and dead behind as Israeli attacks continued, as can be heard clearly in her footage while she was checking on the casualties.

The nurse recounted the chain of events:

• An Israeli came down ordering people to evacuate
• After about 10 minutes the school was struck
• Afterwards soldiers searched and interrogated men

Casualties

Initial reports indicate 10 people were killed and 30 injured.

The graphic footage showed a couple of foot amputation cases.

As the area is under Israeli control, no ambulances were able to reach the victims and their fate is unknown.
