"I am in Beit Hanoun, North Gaza. This is the Ghazi Al-Shawwa school, bombed by Israel. (panning to the left) This is the spot that was bombed and destroyed. The goal being clearly to force the Palestinians displaced in Beit Hanoun to leave. So this part of the school was bombed, and (panning to the right) this one was severely damaged. Yet, the people are not leaving as that is not a choice on their agenda and they consider that by staying here they are foiling Israel's plans. People are trying to repair and make it habitable. Living conditions here are difficut. There is no water, no basic necessities or any means for decent living. In addition to the danger of remaining in Beit Hanoun itself, which is a border area with Israel. Those whow ere in the now destroyed classrooms have erected tents in the courtyard. Life in tents is not easy, but the people here have a will to live, which always prevails, because they have no other choice. (Says hi to a boy) Life continues in Beit Hanoun, with my buddy Hossam (Shabat), one of the celebrities of Beit Hanoun"
Hossam Shabat: "We'll remain steadfast, God willing."
Israel repeatedly bombed another school-turned-shelter in Beit Hanoun: The Ghazi Al-Shawwa school.
The school was reportedly vacated and no casualties were reported.
This is the third school attack by the IDF in five days and the 7th major IDF school attack so far in September.
The day before, at least five people were killed in an Israeli air attack on Shuhada al-Zaytoun School in Gaza City. On September 11, at least 18 people were killed in another air attack on a school-turned-shelter in central Gaza Strip.
Most of the 560 schools in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged.
