80 injured in an Israeli Raid on Nablus

On August 27, 2025, Israeli forces raided Nablus town at dawn, besieging the Old City with dozens of military vehicles, deploying snipers, and forcing families in neighborhoods like al-Qadhba to evacuate their homes informing them to return on Wednesday afternoon.. They injured at least 80 people, including several hit with live ammunition. Medical teams treated dozens for tear gas inhalation.

The raid began around 3 a.m., involving snipers and armored vehicles disrupting the Old City. with soldiers storming and searching homes and shops in the Old City, even transforming some into military posts. Clashes occurred at the eastern entrance where youths threw stones and were met with tear gas and live rounds.This extended raid exceeding nine hours, with Israeli forces injuring at least 80 Palestinians—some by live fire and many others from tear gas inhalation.

They deployed throughout the city's neighborhoods, deploying snipers in the Sufyan Street area and Martyrs' Square in the city center. They also raided several shops in the Ras al-Ain area.

Palestinian Authorities, the Nablus governor Ghassan Daghlas, told AFP.described the operation as a “The assault on Nablus is merely a show of force with no justification”.

Israeli soldiers blindfolding and detaining a boy child from the crowd before taking him into a military transport vehicle. On Thursday, a video filmed by a soldier circulated, showing the child being psychologically terrorized and threatened with “discipline.” The boy was identified as Imran.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, 80 people were injured. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that a child had to receive surgery after being hit by live fire. Israeli forces detained three Palestinians in the raid.

Democracy Now! highlights that this raid took place while U.S. Senators were visiting the West Bank. Meanwhile, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Jeff Merkley visited the West Bank Tuesday and stopped at a Palestinian church in Taybeh that was attacked by Israeli settlers. Senator Van Hollen called for an end to settler violence. Sen. Chris Van Hollen:“Well, we’re here, overall, because we want to focus on the really terrible situation throughout this area, including the war in Gaza. And one of our messages, we need to end the war in Gaza and bring the hostages home. But we also need to end this continued settler violence on the West Bank, which people here in this town of Taybeh witnessed and experienced firsthand.”
