Archivist Notes: Midnight residential block massacre - Beit Lahia

Moments after midnight, Israeli forces destroyed a residential block in Beit Lahia in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital.

The residential block was home to the following families: Al-Madhoun, Khadr, Abu Wadi, Shaqoura, and Nassar.

Casualties

Preliminary reports spoke of 66 killed and over 100 injured Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, reported that there were 200 people at the massacre site, many trapped under the rubble, and that little can be done in the absence of ambulances instigated by Israel one month ago. Hospital staff are participating in the search and rescue efforts.

The hospital is only able to provide first aid due to the continued denied entry of medical supplies and specialized surgeons. As such, he foresees an increase in the death toll in the coming days, noting that the hospital has already been losing patients due to dehydration and malnutrition.
