Archivist Notes On This Video

"Another school ebcame a target for Israeli strikes. This is Kafr Qasim school, and this classroom became a grave for the displaced who were martyred. This hole was caused by the bomb which penetrated multiple floors. The classroom turned into ruins, and people are searching the rubble for body parts of the martyrs and for some of their belongings. The school has been almost deserted as people are afraid of another Israeli strike. Seeing the school so deserted is unusual as we're used to see them crowded with hundreds of displaced families.

The strike was not limited to that classroom which we have, but the lower floor classrooms were also destroyed. The people who were sheltering have miraculously survived. We can see the mattresses of the displaced inside this classroom, a scene that repeats as longs as the Israeli strikes on refuge centers continue. Fear drives people to elave these shelters and go to nowhere. Fragments of the IOF bomb are here."

Joining me here is a man who shelters in this classroom, Hajj, Thank God you are safe

- Make God keep you safe

- Tell us what happened?

- We've been sheltering here for 7 or 8 months, we have nothing and did nothing work, just satying here peacefully. My wife is staying here with me. I finished the danw prayer and my wife told me it's raining let's go check it out. So we went together and as soon as we reached the street people told me"Thank God you're safe. Your classroom was hit." and I said alhamdulillah we're safe, this is by the grace of Allah.

- Where do you plan on going now?

- We really have no idea. Our home has been burned and destroyed. I'll just look for a place and see what I can do and may Allah make it easy on us.

- Thank God you're safe again and thank you very much

It is not easy to decide to leave. But deciding is to stay is more difficult as the IOF does not leave alone any place without targeting it. And the question remains: until when will this genocide continue, and until when will schools remain a target of the occupation.

Archivist Notes: Kafr Qasim school massacre - Al-Shati

Around midday, an Israeli airstrike targeted the Kafr Qasim Girls' Secondary School, which shelters displaced people in Al-Shati camp, west of Gaza City, killing seven people, and injuring dozens. Many of the casualties in this strike were employees of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza.

The school is located in an area that is full of schools including a UNRWA school-complex, the Shati camp schools, the Al-Shifa Street schools and the Kafr Qasim school, each sheltering hundreds of families.

Footage in the aftermath shows that the school has been almost deserted following the airstrike as displaced persons were afraid of the possibility of subsequent bombardment.

The Director General of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza, Eng. Majed Saleh, was killed in this strike, along with his nephew.

This strike was officially the 19th school bombed by Israel in Gaza City alone since August.

Survivor testimony Author Meqdad Jameel writes: "They bombed Kafr Qasim School in our neighborhood in Al-Shati Camp. Our children miraculously survived while they were memorizing the Quran there and the bombing took place!"
