Journalists Islam Bader 'Abu Wael" and Mohammed Ahme "Abu Adnan" were injured by shrapnel following an Israeli airstrike that targeted Block 2 in Jabalia camp around 9:30 am on December 19, 2023.

Islam Bader was wounded by three pieces of shrapnel: one in his shoulder that was successfully removed, a second still lodged in his stomach, and a third that scraped his neck.

Mohammed Ahmed was injured in his thigh.

Footage taken by Islam Bader shows him and his colleague injured, but he powered through the injuries to document the aftermath of the Israeli strike, before heading to the hospital.

On the anniversary of the injury, Islam Bader was reminded of the injury as an object exploded next to him, thankfully causing only a minor scratch. He jokingly noted that in both cases, he was injured in the presence of his colleague Mohammed Ahmed: "(After reading the previous text, I realized that the lesson of the story is not to go out in joint coverage with Abu Adnan 😂 ...but I will not admit it)"
