Archivist Notes: Day 448: North Gaza Invasion

Day 84 of Israel's third ground invasion of the North Gaza governorate.

The day was marked by two horrendous crimes by Israel: a scorched earth campaign in Beit Hanoun and the storming and destruction of Kamal Adwan Hospital.

IDF footage uncovered the army using the Indonesian Hospital as a military base after destroying it and forcibly removing staff and patients 2 days prior.


List of events harming civilians, infrastructure and living conditions:

Daytime:

  • 6:30 am: firebelt airstrikes on Beit Hanoun (source)

  • 7 am, IDF vehicles besieged the hospital and troops ordered everyone inside, including patients and wounded, to come out to the courtyard

  • 9 am: Israeli troops storm Kamal Adwan Hospital and detain medical staff. Other staff were forcibly displaced along with patients and wounded to Al-Fakhoura school where they have been detained and searched again. Israeli soldiers forced women and even little girls to remove their hijab and external clothes and those who refused were beaten and abused. The troops also detained journalist Muhammad Al-Sharif and the head of Civil Defense in North Gaza, Ahmad Al-Kahlout

  • 10 am: airstrikes around Kamal Adwan Hospital

  • 10:30 am: drone strike on a group of people on Halawa Street in Jabalia al-Balad. One person killed and children injured

  • Midday: Israeli troops set fire to Kamal Adwan Hospital (source)

  • 3:45 pm: airstrike targets a shelter for 300 families in Beit Hanoun (source)

  • 6:30 p: the identities of 6 men killed in airstrikes on Beit Hanoun were revealed:
