"Mansour Al-Shawwah, a mute former detained released on December 5, 2024 to central Gaza, shared his experience. With his prisoner number written on his chest, Mansour was beaten and insulted by Israeli forces despite their full knowledge that he could neither hear nor speak. "I spent 40 days there, tortured for no reason," he signs describing how he was slammed against walls and subjected to relentless abuse. Fellow detainees tried to shield him from the violence, but their pleas were ignored. Another mute detainee, Thaer Al-Rifi, faced similar cruelty, as the guards misinterpreted their inability to respond as defiance.
