Archivist Notes On This Video

Khirbet Wadi Ejheish is a small herding community in Masafer Yatta (South Hebron Hills), an Area C zone long subject to military “firing-zone” designation and frequent demolitions/restrictions. Israeli forces & Israeli Civil Administration have repeatedly dismantled or confiscated water pipes and cisterns intended to supply Wadi Ejheish and neighbouring communities — denying or interrupting potable water supply.

These actions are documented by multiple human-rights organisations (B’Tselem, Amnesty) and are part of a broader pattern of demolition, confiscation and settler pressure in Masafer Yatta. In 2019 a water-pipe serving multiple Masafer Yatta communities was cut and confiscated — establishing a pattern of recurring interventions on water infrastructure. (B’Tselem archival case.) During the periode 2022–2024 UNOCHA, Amnesty and other organisations document the ongoing risk of forcible transfer, demolitions, and constraints on water or essential services across Masafer Yatta, noting Wadi Ejheish among affected communities; Amnesty’s reporting highlights intensified pressure since Oct 7, 2023.

B’Tselem publishes video/documentation titled “Israel confiscates water pipe intended for communities of Khirbet Wadi Ejheish and Khirbet Wadi a-Rakhim”: forces sawed off and removed a long section of pipe which had been laid to bring water to Wadi Ejheish. The footage and text show the pipe was intended to supply water to the community but was confiscated by authorities.

B’Tselem documents demolition of homes and the destruction of cisterns and water pipes in the South Hebron Hills; a report specifically mentions cutting a pipe meant to supply Khirbet Wadi Ejheish. (This event is reported in B’Tselem’s compilation of demolitions and confiscations.)
