"Scenes from a video posted yesterday by the Israeli soldier Natanel Zedek in front of the emergency department and blood bank inside the Turkish Palestinian Friendship Hospital, which has been occupied by the Israeli occupation forces and turned into an Israeli military barracks. Converting a hospital for non-medical purposes is considered a violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime under several provisions: 1. Article 19 of the First and Second Geneva Conventions, which stipulates the protection of hospitals and prohibits their use for any military purpose. 2. Article 18 of the First Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions, which prohibits the use of medical facilities for purposes that are incompatible with their medical missions. 3. International criminal law, especially regarding the International Criminal Court, considers this conversion a war crime if the hospital is used to directly support military operations. These provisions aim to ensure the continuity of medical services during conflicts and to protect individuals who are in dire need of medical care.
