MSF statement

"Eighth MSF colleague killed in Gaza Israel continues to show a fundamental disregard for civilian lives. NEW YORK/JERUSALEM, October 25, 2024 -

"Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) denounces in the strongest possible terms the killing of Hasan Suboh, who had been working with MSF since 2019. He is the second MSF colleague to be killed in two weeks. Hasan, who was 41 years old and married with seven children, was killed the night of October 24 during Israeli military operations in Khan Younis, South Gaza. According to the Ministry of Health, this attack killed at least 33 people, including 14 children. Through its war on Gaza, Israel continues to show a fundamental disregard for civilian lives. There are no safe places. Humanitarian and health care workers have been repeatedly attacked. MSF alone has had to flee 14 different health structures and endure 26 violent incidents since the start of the war. More than 1,000 health workers have been killed in the past year, including eight associated with MSF. An immediate and sustained ceasefire is the only way to stop the violence and bring lifesaving care to people who need it most. Under international norms and laws, civilians must be protected from violence and have the right to access humanitarian assistance, especially medical care. Our thoughts are with Hasan's family and loved ones, and with all of our colleagues in Gaza."
