Palestinian captive Fathi Mohammad al-Najjar, 57, had spent more than 23 years in Israeli prisons. He was arrested on September 22, 2002, and sentenced to 30 years in Israeli torture camps.

Al-Najjar has suffered from deteriorating health, experiencing abdominal pain, blood in urine, rectal bleeding, vision problems, and knee ligament issues. He has undergone multiple surgeries, including procedures for kidney stones and hernia repair.

Married and a father of seven, Fathi al-Najjar was released yesterday, January 30, 2025, as part of the third batch of Palestinian captives freed under the ceasefire deal.
