Intro: "I turned over quickly and digged myself in the dirt leaving a little breathing room like this and stayed in the hole."

"Around 10:40pm we heard firebelts suddenly and everything around the tent was ablaze, so while I tried to leave the tent, I saw the fire and went back. I was watching the residential building where my children to try to check if they're okay but I couldn't because of the firebelts and went back to the tent. Just a few minutes later we heard tanks entering the area and they starting shooting and shelling the building where my family was, and then shooting at us. I peeked at the building where my children were and saw it was being struck with artillery shelling. I was distraught as I was watching but unable to do anything. I tried to go to them but couldn't. So I back to where I was, to my mattress and there were about only 7 metres between me and the army vehicle. I turned over quickly lying face down and dug in the sand so I can hide there from the gunfire."

"We were stuck until 6am since the army vehicles did not move. So I told my in-law "look, my children died, and they may think I have died too. I must, must go to them." he told me you'll be killed, I told him no, my children died so I'd rather die. So I pronounced the Shahada and ran, my in-law behind me. Then I looked to my left and saw a tank right there. The whole area was completely ruined. We used to get bread at our neighbors' place - the Alouls - they lost 20 martyrs and the whole place is completely changed now. I can't comprehend what happened."
