Archivist Notes On This Video

Interview with Dr Ali Al-Ghalid from Al Ahli hospital about the injuries sustained by children in the Shati camp massacre.

Summary translation:

  • The doctor says that this was the most horrific event he witnessed in his career.
  • A large number of children were brought at once, all pre-teens
  • All children had critical injuries in multiple parts of the body: some had brain injuries, some torso injuries, others brain and torso, and others brain torso and abdomen injuries
  • 7 children were killed
  • There was a child who had a brain injury and unfortunately could not be saved. This is unfortunately a recurrent situation in Gaza due to the lack of staff. For instance, there are only one or two neurosurgeons in the Gaza Strip. This dearth applies to other medical specialties.
  • Essential supplies that could save lives remain unavailable amid the Israeli siege
