A neighbor of the family is recounting details of the massacre "They bombed the house suddenly. We pulled out little children from the rubble. A whole family was wiped out from the civil registry. May Allah have mercy on Omar, his wife and children. So far, 7 were martyred, assuming there isn't anyone left under the rubble."

At 11pm, Israeli airstrikes targeted the Basal family home in the vicinity of the Al-Sham'a Mosque in the Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.
