Your only enemy is the jailer," Ayham Al-Salaymah's father, Nawwaf, advised his 14-year-old son as he prepared to enter Al-Maskoubiyah (Jerusalem Prison) today for a one-year sentence. Ayham, arrested at 12 for allegedly throwing stones at illegal settlers, was initially placed under house arrest for 14 months before his sentence was converted to prison time. Despite an appeal, the Israeli Supreme Court upheld the ruling, forcing him to begin serving his sentence today. Fully aware of the harsh conditions, Ayham shaved his head in solidarity with other prisoners as his father reminded him to remain strong and resilient, even in the face of injustice." - Source
