Archivist Notes On This Video

Following the news of his murder by an Israeli targeted airstrike, Al Jazeera re-aired Anas Al-Sharif's last report which was aired on the same day, Sunday August 10th, 2025, on the 12pm news brodcast.

The report filmed at the Patient Freinds Association Hospital in Gaza City focused on the devastating effects of Israel deliberate starvation policy in Gaza especially on children. He noted that 217 peple including 100 children had succumbed to the effects of malnutirition as per the Ministry of Health, a figure that will inevitably keep increasing.

He also noted that the entry of aid trucks remains insufficient to fulfil the needs of people or to counteract the severe malnutrition of infants at the hospital. This is further exacerbated by the continued lack and obstruction of entry of essential nutrients and medical supplies.

Event Notes

Assassination of Al-Jazeera crew at Al-Shifa hospital

Around 11:20 pm, an Israeli airstrike targeted the tent o Al-Jazeera's staff at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, killing 6 journalists including renowned Al-Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qriqea.

The massacre also injured journalists Ahmad Al-Harazin, Mohammad Sobh, and Mohammad Qayta.

The IDF assassinated them after a long campaign of incitement— and murder—against Palestinians journalists, particularly Anas whom it accused repeatedly and without evidence of being an agent of Hamas.

The assassination came on the anniversary of one of Israel's most gruesome massacres at Al-Tabi'in school where Anas had documented some of his most poignant reporting. Shortly after the latter, the IDF's arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee incited against Anas, and continued to do so several times throughout the next 12 months. The IDF put Anas on a kill-list of journalists and continued inciting against Anas after his reporting on the devastating effects of Israel's starvation policy starting late July.

Former US army EOD export Trevor Ball noted that the damage pattern seen in the aftermath is "consistent with an Israeli Mikholit bomb. They've (IDF) also used the Mikholit is similar strikes on media tents in the past."
