The first witness, Aida Zinoun, tells the cameraman: "This is the new year. Blood, amputation, cold." and shows him the bloodstained matresses of a woman and her daughter's. The brown matress was used by a 47 y/o women whow as wounded in her abdomen and hand and was holding her daughter. The latter might lose her leg and the woman her hand. She concludes by saying "We live in horror, in a terrible nightmare."

Since midnight, Israeli helicopters were flying over Khan Younis and, around 1 am, launched an airstrike on displacement tents near Al-Salam neighborhood camp, west of Bir Zanoun and Al-Shaer, west of Khan Younis.

11 people were killed. Among them were high ranking Police directors, three children and one woman from Al-Bardawil family and siblings from Al-Madhoun family.

Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Salah was a key memebr in building the Palestinian Police force in Gaza.
