On July 19, 2025, it was reported that extremist settlers began constructing a road on annexed Palestinian land in Mukhmas, northeast of East Jerusalem. The work involved heavy equipment flattening land under the settlers’ control, particularly originating from the illegal outpost Sde Yonatan. These settlers have reportedly used the site as a base for attacks on the local Palestinian community.
This road connects the Sde Yonatan outpost—established or re-established during the current Gaza conflict—to Ma’ale Mikhmas, enabling easier access and support for settler expansion and activity.
It allows faster movement into and through lands previously inaccessible to settlers, facilitating new outpost infrastructure and heightened settler violence near Mukhmas.
